Looking east from the lower deck this early evening photo shows the ridge about 6 miles away. A small airpark is dead center on that ridge. There were thunderhead clouds but as usual they have dissipated as the evening draws on. We have McNabb Cypress (far left), Ponderosa Pines (center) and a scraggly thing called a Digger Pine on the far right. Oodles of native birds awaken us, and sing to us in the evening.

Looking east again in July 2008 to see the blanket of smoke that has been upon us since June 21st. July 4th was a smoke-free day.

This stikes a bit too close to home! CalFIRE was right on top of this one and they had it put out in less than 2 hours. Rumor has it that some kids (teenagers?) started the fire. Trespassers, I suspect. Click the photo above to see a larger version.
